Washing instructions

Thanks to the known fact that leather lasts for ages you can be sure to have years of pleasure from your trousers, which can be washed if necessary.
To avoid disappointment, please keep to our guidelines. Always use a suitable wash lotion, never use normal washing detergents. They contain substances that will remove too much of the natural fat. Apart from cleaning the leather, the wash lotion replaces some of the fat that has been taken out during the wash.

Using the wash lotion, it is possible to wash the trousers in cold water, on the wool programme of your washing machine. Do not spin. If your washing machine doesn`t have this programme, it is advisable to wash your trousers by hand. Large areas of dirt can be removed with the aid of a nail brush.
When drying the washed, dripping trousers it is important to dry them slowly and away from sources of heat (radiators or direct sunlight). Hang up from the leg ends (not from the waist) and leave to dry. Turn the pockets inside out.

Leather trousers, which have been dried in intensive heat, shrink to such an extent that even through stretching it is not possible to obtain the original size again. If this has happened, either wear them when they are still damp or give the trousers a slight spray of water. Then try to stretch them and perhaps the stiff trousers will soften again. But beware, these tips do not always help. Simply follow our instructions for drying!

With nubuk leather, one should note that the suede effect reduces after washing. A good brush after washing, however, gives the dried trousers the soft-textured look again. In some cases, when the trousers have been washed many times, it could be necessary to treat the trousers with a special wash lotion to avoid parts of the leather becoming too dry and brittle.

Shortening of the trousers:
Trousers can be shortened according to the length required. All you need is a strong glue, suitable for leather. Always leave 6 - 8 cms longer than you actually need for the finished length. The rest can be cut off. Turn the trousers inside out and measure the final length of the trousers by having them put on by the future wearer. Pin the required hem onto the trouser leg.

A method with many advantages:
No needle marks on the outside of the trouser leg through sewing. With the simple sticking method, it is possible to alter the length of the trouser leg at any time. Never fix the hem to a final length without extra fabric because when worn, the trouser leg always shortens automatically.
It is advised to avoid contact between light fabrics and dark coloured leather trousers as before the first wash, the dark colour often leaves slight marks.
